About Us

Our Story

Shield Maiden Defense LLC was founded in 2022 by our founders Dennis Green and Patrick Saunders. The company started out making custom Kydex holsters. During this time, Dennis, our lead gunsmith began his training to become a certified gunsmith. Once that was completed, and due to the mass of holster providers on the market, we transitioned into our firearm business.

Our journey began, and has remained, to provide top notch firearm services for the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Our founders are both military veterans and have a heavy passion for firearms, shooting, and self defense. We set out searching for ways to improve firearms that were already on the market and help the consumer find the right fit for them.

Our Namesake

We often hear the question, "where does your business name come from, what does it mean?".

A Shield Maiden is a term rooted in Viking history, referring to women who stood alongside warriors in battle. Traditionally, they carried shields and weapons for their men, helping conserve their strength before combat. But when the time came, and especially when their men fell, these women didn’t stand back. They took up those same weapons and fought. Many historians believe Shield Maidens played a significant role in Viking warfare, with some estimates suggesting they contributed to a substantial portion of victories.

So why did we choose that name?

At Shield Maiden Defense, our founders were raised with strong female influences and a deep respect for family. That foundation, combined with a passion for firearms and personal defense, led us to focus heavily on research and development for women-oriented firearm solutions.

Our mission is simple:
to empower women with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to protect themselves.

The name Shield Maiden represents strength, resilience, and the ability to stand and fight when it matters most—and that’s exactly what we stand for.
