Shield Maiden Defense LLC was founded in 2022 by our founders Dennis Green and Patrick Saunders. The company initially specialized in creating custom Kydex holsters. During this period, Dennis, our lead gunsmith, began his training to become a certified gunsmith. Upon completing his training, and recognizing the saturation of holster providers on the market, we shifted our focus to offering FFL services alongside our gunsmithing business.
Our journey has always been centered on delivering top-notch firearm services to the Phoenix Metropolitan area. As military veterans, our founders possess a deep passion for firearms, shooting, and self-defense. We are committed to exploring ways to enhance existing firearms on the market and assisting customers in finding the right fit for their needs.

One of the questions we hear most often is, "Where does your business name come from?"
The term Shield Maiden is rooted in Norse legend and Viking history. Shield Maidens are described as women who stood alongside warriors—strong, capable, and willing to defend their families and communities when called upon. While historians continue to debate the extent of their role in Viking society, they have become enduring symbols of courage, resilience, and unwavering determination.
So why did we choose the name?
At Shield Maiden Defense, our founders were raised by strong women and taught the importance of family, responsibility, and self-reliance. Those values, combined with a lifelong passion for firearms and personal defense, inspired us to build a company dedicated to helping responsible firearm owners protect what matters most.
From professional gunsmithing and Cerakote services to FFL transfers and custom firearm builds, our goal has always been to provide quality craftsmanship backed by exceptional customer service. We also believe that personal protection should be accessible to everyone, and we remain committed to encouraging, educating, and empowering women to become confident, capable firearm owners.
To us, the name Shield Maiden represents more than a historical figure. It represents the strength to stand up for yourself, the courage to protect the people you love, and the confidence to face life's challenges head-on.
Those values are the foundation of everything we do at Shield Maiden Defense.
